A Lifetime of Service to Maine

Ann Matlack has called Maine home for more than 40 years. After coming to Maine to attend the University of Maine, she put down roots in St. George, where she has lived for more than three decades.

Long before serving in Augusta, Ann was deeply involved in her community. She served on the MSAD 50 School Board, the St. George Budget Committee, and the Knox County Budget Committee. She also worked as an assistant to the Rockland city manager and served as chair of the board of Penquis.

That experience shaped Ann's approach to public service: listen to constituents, find common ground, and work together to make Maine a better place.

Ann has spent eight years in the Maine House working on the issues that affect families and communities across Maine.

After serving 4 terms in Maine house district 43, Ann is ready to continue her service in the senate.

Throughout her years of public service, Ann is proud of the progress she’s helped make for Maine families and communities.

Education

Ann has been part of efforts to fully fund 55% of K-12 education, increase teacher pay, and make community college free for Maine high school graduates.

Working Families

Maine has expanded access to free school meals and established Paid Family & Medical Leave.

Strong Communities

Municipal Revenue Sharing has increased to 5%, helping communities provide the services their residents rely on.

Responsible Government

Maine's budget stabilization fund has grown from $0 to more than $900 million.

Why Ann is running

Over the past eight years, Maine has made important investments in education, working families, healthcare, housing, and communities across our state.

But there is still work to do. Families are facing rising costs, healthcare remains difficult to afford and access, our schools and infrastructure need continued investment, and Maine's tax system should do more to provide relief to working and middle-class families.

Ann wants to bring her experience from the Maine House to the State Senate and continue working on the challenges facing Maine communities.
